VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at DePelchin Children's Center!  Our volunteers are an invaluable part of our organization.  Available volunteer positions are posted below.  As more positions and opportunities arise, they will be posted. Thank you again for thinking about DePelchin!



Individual Opportunities
  • Administrative Volunteer - Administrative volunteers aid our Foster Care and Adoption departments with data entry, filing and other administrative duties.  These volunteers serve in two or three hour shifts available between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.  Volunteers younger than 18 years of age are considered on a case-by-case basis.

 

  • Donation Station Volunteer - Donation Station volunteers help sort and organize incoming donations in DePelchin's Donation Station.  Shifts are available 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

 

  • Lobby Volunteer - Lobby volunteers provide positive interaction and fun activities for children waiting in the DePelchin lobby.  Three hour shifts may be available weekdays from 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Group Opportunities
  • Collection Drives - We are in need of groups to organize collection drives to benefit our children and families.  Collected items should be new.  Below is a list of our 'most needed' items.

 

                           - Diapers (all sizes), Pull-Ups
                           - Teen items (clothing, shoes, cologne, beauty products, watches, electronics, sports equipment)
                           - Twin size mattresses, sheets and blankets
                           - Children's clothing (size 6-12)
                           - Gift cards (Target, Walmart, grocery stores)
                           - Household items and cleaning supplies
                           - Tickets to sporting events, local attractions and performances

To coordinate your collection drive, or schedule a delivery of items collected, please email us.

  • Special Events - Companies, organizations and other groups can host special events for groups of children by providing a meal or sponsoring an activity.  Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age.

Internships 

DePelchin Children's Center does not accept volunteers or students interested in observation hours.

Undergraduate internships can only be considered if the university has a written agreement with DePelchin Children's Center.  Internships less than a year or less than 300 hours are not considered.  Graduate internships need to contact our Human Resources department.  If you are seeking hours toward professional licensing, you must first be hired as an empoyee of DePelchin Children's Center.
