Substance Abuse Prevention Program
| DePelchin Children's Center seeks to support Galveston County schools, families, and communities with drug, alcohol, and tobacco awareness programs and prevention services. Skills for Success is a free program serving Bacliff, Dickinson, La Marque, San Leon, and Texas City. |

- Informative presentations to schools or community groups about drugs, alcohol, and tobacco prevention
- Educational groups for children at risk of substance use or abuse
- Informational meetings for parents and parent education groups

- 65% of children aged 12 or older have used alcohol
- 36% of children aged 12 or older have used cigarettes or other tobacco products
- 30% of children aged 12 or older have used illicit drugs
- 29% of children aged 12 or older have used marijuana
- 8% of children aged 16 or older admit to having driven while intoxicated
