Residential Services

The program treats children and adolescents who suffer from conditions which include:

Depression Bipolar Disorder Adjustement Disorders Abuse Schizophrenia Obsessive compulsive disorder Other behavioral problems

Sometimes these problems are so severe that outpatient or day treatment services cannot provide the stabilization and intensive treatment necessary for the child to function successfully in a home setting and admission to a residential treatment program is necessary.
 
A Day At The Center
Although each resident's daily schedule and treatment varies and is based on individual need, a typical day at DePelchin's Elkin's Residential Treatment Center is structured and may include: 

Academic studies through University of Texas Charter School Group therapy by a licensed psychotherapist Recreational activities Meals Individual therapy with psychiatrist Milieu groups Life skillbuilding lessons Physical activity such as basketball, volleyball and pool aerobics

 

Residential Treatment Center staff includes: 

A psychiatrist Licensed psychotherapists A licensed child care administrator A psychologist A nurse Youth workers

 

Treatment in the Residential Treatment Centers is short term in nature and is expected to be an average of 90-120 days. Once a child leaves the program, continued therapy and medication monitoring is necessary.
