Hurricane Trauma Resources
|
Hurricanes have touched all of our lives. But the impact on children can have a life-long effect. Children may have experienced the storm's wrath and destruction first hand and in the news. The following resources are for parents and caregivers of children effected by a hurricane.
Changes in children's behavior is normal on occasion. If a child is not bouncing back to their usual behavior after a couple of weeks, that child may need professional help in learning how to cope with their thoughts and fears related to the traumatic event. If a child is having difficulty sleeping, nightmares when they do, withdrawing from family and friends, or having unexplainable body aches, they may be experiencing the effects of trauma and need help.
If you feel that professional help is needed, contact us at info@depelchin.org or 713-730-2335.
