Skills for Families of children with autism
Skills for Families of Children with Autism is a short-term applied behavior analysis (ABA) program for children 18 months to 13 years of age diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The purpose of this program is to teach parents how to improve their child’s skills in the areas of communication, play and social interaction and self-help. Parents will increase their ability to successfully manage challenging behaviors using ABA strategies.
At the beginning of the program, the child’s skill level is assessed to determine individualized goals. Parents will receive one-on-one coaching on the use of ABA teaching strategies to achieve the child’s individualized goals.
Skills for Families of Children with Autism is intended for families who answer “yes” to any one of the following questions:
- Do you want to learn how to teach your child?
- Have you attended group trainings but left feeling unskilled and uncertain?
- Is your child on a waitlist for a school or program but needs help now?
- Is your child attending a program but still having problems at home?
