1.5 million people in the U.S. have some form of autism, making it the second most common developmental disability. Autism affects approximately 1 in 110 children. The onset of autism usually occurs before the age of 3. Early intervention is important and increases the chance for positive outcomes. Additionally, parental support and skill development is central to the success of a child who has autism.
