Autism Assessment

DePelchin offers a comprehensive evaluation for children beginning at 18 months of age who display characteristics suggesting an autism spectrum disorder. For most children, an assessment could consist of three sessions:
  • You have noticed symptoms of autism in your child,
  • An intake interview with parents.
  • Testing and observation using a multi-disciplinary team of professionals from various areas of expertise including psychologists, psychiatrists, clinicians and speech pathologists.
  • A feedback session consisting of a complete report to families, including results of the assessment, recommendations and referrals to services available at DePelchin as well as around the community.

For children ages 18 months to 6 years of age, DePelchin Autism Services provides an Arena Assessment, which includes the following:
  • Parents observe their child while he or she is being evaluated
  • Active parent participation during the evaluation process
  • Multi-disciplinary team of professionals
  • Incorporation of play-based assessment along with standardized measures.

For children ages 7 and older, DePelchin Autism Services provides diagnostic evaluations as well as additional psychological testing.
